We are hiring a US Residential Mortgage Underwriter to join a leading global MNC in Chennai. Key responsibilities include underwriting Conventional, FHA, VA, and Jumbo mortgage loans; reviewing and analyzing borrower income, employment, assets, liabilities, and credit history; analyzing W-2s, pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, and financial documents; reviewing appraisal reports and title valuation documents; assessing loan eligibility based on agency and compliance guidelines; issuing approval, suspension, decline, or conditional approval decisions; working closely with Loan Processors, Closers, and Loan Officers to resolve underwriting conditions; and ensuring accuracy, quality, and turnaround time targets are met. Required skills include strong knowledge of Conventional, FHA, VA, and Jumbo mortgage products, DTI/LTV analysis, income/asset analysis, credit review, FNMA/FHLMC guidelines, DU/LP/LPA, Encompass LOS, and mortgage compliance regulations. Experience underwriting complex income and self-employed borrower files is preferred. Excellent analytical, decision-making, and communication skills are essential.
