Role & Company / Project Overview: Webasto / MSI is actively hiring a Warranty Analysis Subject Matter Expert (SME) specializing in Engines and Powertrains for an onsite engagement located in Auburn Hills, Michigan. The role requires immediate availability. Key Responsibilities & Daily Duties: • Perform automotive warranty part analysis and engine/powertrain failure investigations. • Conduct component teardown, diagnostic procedures, and thorough root cause analysis. • Apply structured problem-solving methodologies including 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone diagrams, and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA). • Recommend appropriate component dispositions: repair, rework, scrap, or containment actions. • Collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering, quality, manufacturing, and supplier teams. • Analyze historical warranty trends and drive corrective actions to mitigate and eliminate repeat failures. Required Qualifications, Skills & Experience: • Experience: 8+ years of total experience (with 10+ years of automotive engineering experience preferred/required). • Strong, comprehensive knowledge of automotive engine and powertrain systems. • Extensive hands-on experience with warranty analysis, teardown, and physical inspection. • Proven expertise in failure analysis and root cause investigation. • In-depth working knowledge of automotive quality standards and tools including APQP, PPAP, DFMEA, and PFMEA. • Prior experience working with OEMs or Tier 1 automotive suppliers is preferred.
