Job description
Role & Company / Project Overview: • Hiring for an experienced Senior Databricks Architect to lead a large-scale data modernization initiative for a leading Retail/Grocery client. • The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on Databricks expertise, architecture and technical leadership experience, and proven experience migrating legacy Talend ETL/ELT workloads to Databricks. • Engagement: C2C contract role. • Domain: Retail / Grocery. Key Responsibilities & Daily Duties: • Lead end-to-end Talend-to-Databricks migration architecture. • Define scalable, secure, and cost-optimized Lakehouse solutions. • Establish migration frameworks, architecture standards, and reusable patterns. • Guide data engineering teams and conduct architecture/design reviews. • Ensure data reconciliation, performance optimization, and successful migration execution. Required Qualifications, Skills & Experience: • 12+ years of overall IT experience. • 5+ years in Databricks / Cloud Data Engineering / Data Architecture. • Strong hands-on experience with Databricks, Apache Spark, PySpark, SQL, and Delta Lake. • Proven mastery of Databricks Lakehouse and Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold). • Hands-on expertise with Databricks Workflows/Jobs, Unity Catalog, and Databricks SQL. • In-depth expertise in Talend ETL/ELT migration and modernization. • Solid background in data modeling, ETL/ELT architecture, CDC, and SCD Type 1/Type 2. • Proven experience in data quality, reconciliation, performance tuning, and large-volume data processing. • Experience with cloud data platforms, preferably Azure or AWS. • Hands-on experience with cloud storage, databases, APIs, and data integration. • Retail/Grocery domain experience covering product/item, store/location, customer/loyalty, sales/transactions, pricing, promotions, inventory, supply chain, vendors/suppliers, orders, forecasting, and merchandising.
