Role & Company / Project Overview: We are hiring a very senior, hands-on Solution Architect / Field Delivery Engineer (FDE) with strong Databricks expertise for a long-term contract opportunity on a 1099 basis. The client is Databricks. We are seeking a professional who can architect, build, troubleshoot, demonstrate, and advise, rather than someone limited strictly to high-level architecture or documentation. Key Responsibilities & Daily Duties: • Architect, build, troubleshoot, demonstrate, and advise on Databricks enterprise solutions. • Lead technical workshops, discovery sessions, and Proof of Concepts (POCs). • Act in a highly consultative and customer-facing capacity to guide clients through Lakehouse implementations. • Perform end-to-end troubleshooting and solution design for complex enterprise data architectures. Required Qualifications, Skills & Experience: • Proven experience as a Very Senior Solution Architect or Field Delivery Engineer (FDE). • Strong hands-on Databricks experience and deep knowledge of Lakehouse Architecture. • Proficient in Apache Spark, PySpark, Python, and SQL. • Solid practical experience with Delta Lake and Unity Catalog. • Extensive experience with Databricks SQL and Workflows/Jobs. • Strong cloud background across AWS, Azure, or GCP. • Comprehensive enterprise data engineering and data architecture background. • Demonstrated track record leading technical workshops, customer discovery sessions, and POCs. • Excellent consultative, communication, and solution-design skills. • Big Plus: Hands-on familiarity with Databricks Lakebase and Databricks Genie. • Target Profiles: Senior Solution Architect, Principal Solution Architect, Databricks Architect, Data Architect, Cloud Data Architect, Field Solutions Architect, Senior FDE, Field Delivery Engineer, Principal Data Engineer, or Databricks Consultant.
