Job description
Role & Company / Project Overview We are looking for an experienced SQL Server / Cloud DBA to join the Tolling Engineering and Operations Team at Software People Inc. for large-scale tolling database support. Key Responsibilities & Daily Duties • Monitor and maintain database uptime and availability • Troubleshoot database/application connectivity, access, and security issues • Tune long-running SQL queries and production workloads • Support SQL Server installations, upgrades, patching, and migrations • Perform SQL Server 2022/2025+ failover clustering • Review and improve database processes and maintenance tasks • Use OS scripting for database maintenance and troubleshooting • Support large-scale tolling databases and production environments • Collaborate with Engineering and Operations teams • Communicate effectively with technical and business stakeholders Required Qualifications, Skills & Experience • 6+ years of MS SQL Server Database Administration experience • 3+ years of SQL Server Performance Tuning experience • Experience upgrading E-ZPass/Tolling databases • Strong experience diagnosing deadlocks and blocking in production workloads • Experience tuning Very Large Databases (2TB+) • Expertise in index optimization, long-running query analysis, and resource contention • 4+ years of experience installing, upgrading, patching, and migrating SQL Server • Strong T-SQL coding and debugging skills • Experience with SQL Clustering, Mirroring, and High Availability • Experience with SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS • Windows Server experience • Experience with Azure Cloud • Nice to have: Azure, Snowflake, and/or Databricks Working Hours, Shifts & Location Details • Location: Mechanicsville, Virginia, United States • Work Arrangement: Onsite from Day 1 • Duration: 12+ Months • Interview Process: Phone/Skype Hire Application Instructions Interested candidates are requested to submit their updated resume for consideration.
