Job description
Role & Company / Project Overview: UAVBAY is hiring a Contract Industrial Designer (CAD/CAM). UAVBAY builds hardware for unmanned systems, including carbon-fibre structures, CNC parts, and flight-safety systems that must work reliably the first time, every time. Key Responsibilities & Daily Duties: • Take hardware design from concept CAD through to parts off the machine. • Work on compact mechanisms and enclosures that fit inside tight airframes, store energy, release it on command, and survive vibration, heat, and repeated testing. • Design compact flight-safety hardware that deploys right the first time and ensure manufacturability. • Manage tight volume, tight weight budgets, and tight tolerances. • Execute CAD to CAM to part-on-the-machine workflows using CNC, additive manufacturing, and carbon-fibre in-house. • Prototype, test, and iterate mechanisms and enclosures across project milestones. Required Qualifications, Skills & Experience: • Strong hands-on proficiency in CAD and CAM/CNC. • Demonstrated experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM). • Experience working with composites (carbon-fibre) and CNC/additive manufacturing processes. • Solid expertise in compact mechanism design and physical prototyping. • Relevant experience in drone/UAV, aerospace, or defence hardware design. Working Hours, Shifts & Location Details: • Project-based contract work with clear milestones and room to extend. • Location / Remote-friendly. Compensation & Benefits: • Milestone-based contract role. Application Instructions: • Send portfolio and CV via email.
