Job description
Role & Company / Project Overview: We are looking for an experienced Senior Network Engineer (Job: 2430 Network Engineer C. Advanced) to support the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) – Office of Information Technology (OIT), Integration Services. Contract duration is ASAP through June 30, 2027, with possible renewal. Key Responsibilities & Daily Duties: • Design, implement, and manage secure enterprise network infrastructure. • Configure and administer Palo Alto, Check Point & GlobalProtect VPNs. • Handle firewall deployments, rule migrations, security policies, and firewall administration. • Support Next-Generation Firewalls, VPNs, log collectors, LAN/WAN, routing & switching, wireless and cloud networking. • Develop secure network segmentation and access-control strategies. • Monitor and respond to cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, unauthorized access, and network anomalies. • Perform network/security risk assessments and incident troubleshooting. • Support cloud network infrastructure, security policies, and traffic monitoring. • Develop and maintain security/network documentation aligned with NIST guidelines. • Provide technical leadership across networking, cybersecurity, cloud, infrastructure, and modernization initiatives. Required Qualifications, Skills & Experience: • 10 years of combined IT and security experience. • 10 years working with information-security tools based on NIST standards. • Strong enterprise networking and cybersecurity background. • Experience with NGFW, Palo Alto and/or Check Point security products preferred. • Experience with network/infrastructure schematic diagramming tools. • Hands-on experience with Palo Alto / Check Point firewalls, VPNs, network security, NIST, LAN/WAN, routing & switching, cloud networking, segmentation, and enterprise cybersecurity. • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, related field, or equivalent work experience. • Preferred certifications: PCNSE | CISSP | CCNP | CCIE. Working Hours, Shifts & Location Details: • Location: Tallahassee, FL – 605 Suwannee Street. • Work Mode: 100% Onsite – No Telecommuting. • Work Hours: Flexible between 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, Monday–Friday.
