Role & Company / Project Overview SEAWORKS is seeking a qualified and experienced Chief Engineer with strong Wärtsilä & Caterpillar engine expertise to join a dynamic maritime work environment in Qatar. Research vessel experience is highly preferred. Key Responsibilities & Daily Duties • Supervise all engine room personnel and technical operations • Manage maintenance, troubleshooting, overhauls, and breakdown management for Wärtsilä and Caterpillar main engines and auxiliary machinery • Oversee preventive maintenance programs and statutory compliance • Ensure full operational reliability and safety of the vessel's propulsion and auxiliary systems Required Qualifications, Skills & Experience • 8+ years of seagoing experience, including service as Chief Engineer or in an equivalent senior engineering position • Proven expertise in Wärtsilä and Caterpillar engines and auxiliary machinery • Valid Chief Engineer Certificate of Competency (CoC) appropriate to propulsion power and applicable statutory requirements • Valid STCW safety training, medical fitness, and applicable security certificates • Documented Wärtsilä & Caterpillar engine-specific training, certification, or verifiable hands-on experience with installed engine models • Research vessel experience is highly preferred Working Hours, Shifts & Location Details • Location: Qatar • Availability: Mid-January 2027 • Work environment: Maritime / Vessel-based Compensation & Benefits • Not specified Application Instructions • Send your updated CV to the designated recruitment email address.
