• Role & Company / Project Overview We are seeking a Junior GIS Specialist with 5 years of experience to provide dedicated support to the State Traffic Operations Center (STOC) and Transportation Mobility & Safety Unit (TM&S) for the State of NCDOT (North Carolina Department of Transportation). This is a hybrid role intended strictly for local NC candidates. • Key Responsibilities & Daily Duties - Assist with maintaining and updating GIS data used in routing, traffic operations, and incident response. - Work directly with TM&S staff to understand basic workflow needs. - Assist with gathering technical requirements. - Help build simple to moderately complex maps, dashboards, and GIS tools that support daily operations. - Translate non-GIS meetings and requests into actionable GIS outcomes. • Required Qualifications, Skills & Experience - Experience: 5 years of relevant GIS experience. - Mandatory & Must-Have Skills: - ArcGIS Pro - ArcGIS Online Administration, Web Mapping, and Cartography - Survey123, Field Maps, Experience Builder - ArcGIS Enterprise Administration & Server Management - Arcade & Python Scripting - GIS for Public Safety - Strong oral and written communication skills. • Work Sample Requirement - A sample of work is strictly required as part of the submission. Acceptable work samples include: documentation of a GIS process, a cartographic map, a report on a GIS solution, a link to a GIS application where the candidate was the primary creator/developer, or a simple screenshot of a map created by the candidate. A write-up without maps will not be considered unless it is an Arcade/Python script demonstrating GIS knowledge. - CRITICAL RULE: Use of AI for this work sample is strictly not allowed.
