Role & Company / Project Overview: Tetra Computing is seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend Engineer to join a fast-paced Payments team building secure, scalable backend services for digital wallets, payment processing, and financial integrations. Key Responsibilities & Daily Duties: • Design and develop scalable backend microservices for payment and digital wallet platforms. • Build and maintain secure public-facing REST APIs and integration services. • Develop event-driven and asynchronous applications using Kafka and messaging technologies. • Integrate digital wallet providers, including Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Wallet. • Support banking integrations, payment processing, and tokenization workflows. • Implement encryption, authentication, token signing, and sensitive data protection. • Develop and deploy cloud-native services in OpenShift and containerized environments. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver highly available and reliable services. Required Qualifications, Skills & Experience: • Strong Java development experience (Java 8+ required; Java 21 preferred). • Enterprise backend development experience using Kotlin. • Microservices architecture and Spring Boot. • Kafka and asynchronous processing patterns. • Vert.x or similar reactive frameworks. • NoSQL databases, preferably Couchbase. • REST APIs, API security, and integration development. • Encryption, symmetric and asymmetric cryptography, and token signing. • Cloud-native architecture, containers, and OpenShift or similar platforms. • Work Authorization: U.S. Citizens Only. Preferred Qualifications: • Experience in Payments, FinTech, Digital Wallets, or Banking. • Knowledge of payment tokenization and sensitive data protection. • JEE and reactive programming experience. • Advanced concurrency concepts, virtual threads, and CompletableFuture. • Exposure to AI/OpenAI-enabled solutions. • Experience integrating Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Wallet, or similar payment platforms. • Experience with large-scale payment processing systems.
