Job description
• Role & Company / Project Overview Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) is hiring a Principal AI/ML Engineer for the Artificial Intelligence Research & Innovation (AIRI) team based in Lahore. AIRI builds AI systems that serve millions of citizens across Punjab, running open-weight LLMs, speech recognition, and semantic search on dedicated GPU clusters and putting them into production for government departments and the public. • Key Responsibilities & Daily Duties - Shape the architecture of the organization's AI platform, spanning model serving through evaluation. - Lead key technical decisions across the engineering teams. - Mentor and guide engineers across multiple teams. - Work on serving and fine-tuning LLMs on dedicated GPUs using vLLM and Kubernetes. - Build and optimize RAG, embeddings, and semantic search systems over government-scale data. - Develop speech-to-text and multilingual AI pipelines in Urdu and English. - Establish MLOps frameworks including model registry, evaluation, and monitoring. - Deliver AI features integrated into public services deployed across the province. • Required Qualifications, Skills & Experience - Extensive senior-level engineering experience capable of driving platform architecture and mentoring. - Strong Python and machine learning fundamentals (PyTorch, Hugging Face). - Demonstrated experience taking machine learning models from notebook prototypes to production environments. - Hands-on work with LLMs, NLP, speech recognition, or computer vision is a strong plus. - Commitment to developing AI solutions that serve real-world citizens. • Working Hours, Shifts & Location Details - Location: Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. - Work setup: Onsite public sector technology board deployment. • Application Instructions - Apply officially via the Punjab Jobs Portal once listings go live. - Resumes can also be submitted directly via email with the role title in the subject line.
