Role & Company / Project Overview: We are hiring a Senior Platform / Middleware Engineer – Messaging & Streaming based in Austin, TX (Round Rock). The role focuses on Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, Middleware, Messaging & Streaming, and AI-Assisted Engineering across enterprise-scale distributed architectures. Key Responsibilities & Daily Duties: • Architect, configure, optimize, and maintain enterprise messaging and streaming platforms utilizing Apache Kafka and RabbitMQ. • Conduct deep troubleshooting, performance tuning, and capacity management for middleware infrastructure. • Implement and support automated monitoring, logging, and observability using Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, and Dynatrace. • Develop automation, tooling, and maintenance scripts using Python and Shell scripting. • Maintain configuration management and infrastructure automation using Ansible. • Ensure high availability (HA), security compliance, scalability, robust backup, and disaster recovery processes. • Integrate AI-powered engineering and development tools to modernize platform operations. Required Qualifications, Skills & Experience: • 6 to 12 years of experience in Middleware, Kafka, Messaging, and Distributed Architecture. • Strong enterprise experience with Apache Kafka and RabbitMQ. • Hands-on expertise in Kafka/RabbitMQ configuration, troubleshooting, optimization, and performance tuning. • Proficiency with monitoring tools: Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, and Dynatrace. • Strong scripting skills in Python and Shell. • Experience with Ansible and configuration management practices. • Hands-on experience with AI-powered engineering/development tools. • Strong understanding of security, scalability, High Availability (HA), backup, and recovery. • Nice to have: Generative AI / Agentic AI for infrastructure or platform engineering, AI-assisted observability & intelligent automation, Kubernetes & Docker, IBM MQ / ActiveMQ / Apache Flink, and AI-driven incident management and operational analytics.
