Role & Company / Project Overview An IT Services firm is hiring a Backend Engineer for a 3-month extendable contract placement in Kota Tangerang, Banten, Indonesia. Key Responsibilities & Daily Duties - Build and maintain Java/Spring Boot services for conversation management, routing, assignment, campaigns, and sales attribution. - Design data models using PostgreSQL and MongoDB. - Build event-driven services with Kafka, including ordering, retries, and dead-letter handling. - Develop WhatsApp integration through Cloud API or BSP. - Handle inbound/outbound WhatsApp messaging, webhooks, rate limits, templates, media, and 24-hour service windows. - Integrate chatbot, VoIP, and Microsoft Graph services. - Implement bot-to-human handoff events. - Develop horizontally scalable real-time messaging using WebSockets, Redis Pub/Sub, or Kafka. - Implement access control, data masking, audit logging, and secure personal data handling. - Ensure observability through logs, metrics, and tracing. - Troubleshoot production issues and support system reliability. - Participate in code reviews and collaborate with frontend, BA, QA, and vendor teams. Required Qualifications, Skills & Experience - Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. - Minimum 4 years of backend development experience. - Strong production experience with Java 21+ and Spring Boot 4. - Strong PostgreSQL skills: schema design, query optimization, indexing, and connection pooling. - Production experience with Redis and Kafka. - Experience with WebSocket or other long-lived connection systems at scale. - Strong understanding of concurrency, idempotency, distributed locking, and consistency in microservices. - Experience with Spring Security, OAuth2/JWT, RBAC or ABAC. - Experience with Docker, Kubernetes/ECS, CI/CD, and AWS/GCP. - Experience with JUnit, Testcontainers, and integration testing. - Strong Git workflow experience including branching, PR reviews, and conflict resolution. - Able to troubleshoot production issues such as memory leaks, slow queries, thread contention, and downstream dependency issues. - Strong ownership, problem-solving, communication, and attention to detail. - Nice to Have: Experience with WhatsApp Business Platform, Cloud API, or BSP such as Twilio, Infobip, Qiscus, or Mekari Qontak. - Nice to Have: Experience with contact center, customer service, helpdesk, ticketing, live chat, or WhatsApp-based platforms. - Nice to Have: Experience with routing, queueing, and SLA timer logic. - Nice to Have: Experience with MongoDB for high-volume message storage. - Nice to Have: Knowledge of SIP/WebRTC signaling or VoIP integrations. - Nice to Have: Experience integrating conversational AI/chatbot platforms and human-handoff workflows. - Nice to Have: Understanding of Indonesia Personal Data Protection Law (UU No. 27/2022).
