Job description
Role & Company / Project Overview: Kanchan Oil Industries Limited (KOIL) has an urgent requirement for a Fitter / Senior Fitter in the Maintenance / Engineering Department at Jhargram, West Bengal. Candidates residing in nearby areas will be given preference. Key Responsibilities & Daily Duties: • Measuring and Marking: Use measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, and measuring tapes to ensure accurate dimensions. Mark materials and components as per technical drawings and specifications. • Cutting and Shaping Materials: Perform cutting, filing, drilling, grinding, and shaping of metal components using appropriate hand tools and machines. Ensure proper finishing and dimensional accuracy of components. • Assembling Components: Fit, assemble, and align mechanical components, machinery, and equipment. Read and interpret basic engineering drawings and fitting specifications. • Installation Work: Assist in the installation, alignment, and commissioning of industrial machinery, pipelines, and mechanical equipment. Ensure proper fitting and secure installation of components. • Maintenance and Repair: Conduct routine inspection and preventive maintenance of machinery and equipment. Identify mechanical faults, troubleshoot breakdowns, and replace damaged or worn-out components. Support breakdown maintenance activities to minimize equipment downtime. • Testing and Quality Checks: Inspect assembled components and machinery to ensure proper functioning. Conduct basic operational checks after installation or repair. Ensure adherence to quality and safety standards. Required Qualifications, Skills & Experience: • Educational Qualification: ITI in Fitter Trade from a recognised institute. • Experience Required: Minimum 2–5 years of experience in industrial fitting, machinery installation, and mechanical maintenance. • Refinery experience will be an added advantage. • Practical knowledge of fitting tools, measuring instruments, mechanical components, and industrial maintenance activities.
