Role & Company / Project Overview: Simpson & Brown is seeking an enthusiastic Heritage Consultant / Assistant to join their award-winning Heritage Consultancy team in Edinburgh for maternity cover. Key Responsibilities & Daily Duties: • Work on a wide range of historic buildings and sites across the UK. • Undertake detailed historical research. • Assess significance of historic structures and sites. • Assist in producing heritage statements, conservation plans, heritage impact assessments, and other specialist reports. Required Qualifications, Skills & Experience: • Relevant degree in architectural history, heritage conservation, architecture, or a related discipline. • Strong interest in architectural history, the historic built environment, and conservation. • Excellent research and writing skills. • Open to both developing and experienced heritage professionals. Working Hours, Shifts & Location Details: • Location: Edinburgh (primarily office-based with flexible working options). • Duration: 1-year fixed term contract with the possibility of extension. • Start Date: Mid-November 2026. • Application Deadline: 23:59, Sunday 25 October 2026.
