• Role & Company / Project Overview Virtuous Tech is hiring an Application Developer III for client Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. This is a 14-month contract opportunity for an experienced developer with hands-on expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Spring Batch, SQL, and REST APIs, alongside practical experience utilizing AI-assisted coding tools. • Key Responsibilities & Daily Duties - Design, develop, enhance, and support enterprise applications. - Build and maintain robust Java, Spring Boot, and Spring Batch applications. - Develop and optimize complex SQL queries, joins, subqueries, and stored procedures. - Design, build, and maintain REST APIs and backend services. - Use AI coding assistants (such as GitHub Copilot or similar) for code generation, refactoring, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation. - Perform unit testing, debugging, code reviews, and application support. - Follow coding standards, design patterns, and modern development practices. - Collaborate actively with team members in an Agile/Scrum environment. • Required Qualifications, Skills & Experience - 7+ years of hands-on Java development experience. - Client/Visa Requirement: USC / GC / H4 EAD. - Candidate residency: Local Detroit, MI candidates only. - Modern Java development expertise. - In-depth knowledge of Spring Boot & Spring ecosystem. - Experience with Spring Batch & batch processing. - Advanced SQL skills: complex queries, joins, subqueries, stored procedures, and performance tuning. - Experience in REST API and backend development. - Proficiency with Git / GitHub. - Experience using AI coding tools (GitHub Copilot or similar). - Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, unit testing, debugging, and code reviews. - Agile / Scrum methodology experience. • Working Hours, Shifts & Location Details - Location: Detroit, Michigan, United States - Work Arrangement: Hybrid (Local Detroit candidates only) - Duration: 14 Months contract • Compensation & Benefits - Not specified • Application Instructions - Qualified local candidates who meet the hybrid work requirements are invited to submit their updated resume via email.
