Role & Company / Project Overview: • Institut Mines-Télécom (IMT Atlantique), an internationally recognized, top-tier engineering school under the auspices of the French Ministry of Industry and Digital Technology, is recruiting an Associate Professor (Maître de Conférences) in Cybersecurity. • The position is based at the Rennes campus within the SRCD department (Systems, Networks, Cybersecurity and Digital Law), which comprises 24 permanent faculty members, over 10 post-doctoral researchers and contractual engineers, and 30 doctoral students. • For research activities, the appointed faculty member will join the SOTERN (Self Protecting the Future Internet) team within the D2 department of the IRISA laboratory (UMR CNRS 6074), one of France's largest computer science and IT research laboratories with over 850 members. Key Responsibilities & Daily Duties: • Research Focus: - Address major cybersecurity challenges driven by advances in Artificial Intelligence (offensive AI, AI for infrastructure protection, defensive SOC correlation/detection) and evolving attack targets/operational network architectures (industrial systems, intra-vehicular networks, avionics, vital operators). - Conduct research in broad network security, specifically developing expertise in AI architectures, protocols, and algorithms for network/AI security (federated learning, security of AI architectures such as Model Context Protocol / MCP) OR operational network security (OT security across any application domain). • Teaching & Mentoring Focus: - Teach across core curricula and elective tracks within Master-level programs (BAC+5 engineering and masters-DNM degrees). - Deliver course modules covering topics such as AI and Cybersecurity (offensive AI, AI for infrastructure defense, AI security), industrial system security, and general cybersecurity courses. - Supervise and take organizational responsibility for the Hack'lantique CTF competition. - Conduct project and internship tutoring, thesis defenses, student guidance, and collaborate on pedagogical innovations and curriculum evolution aligned with industrial partnerships. • Institutional & Economic Development Responsibilities: - Participate actively in institutional life, cross-functional projects (such as ecological transition initiatives), training programs, and research committees/councils (teaching committee, school council, social administration committee). - Foster relationships with national and international industrial partners, SMEs, and startups, contributing to institutional rayonnement, patent filings, and technology transfer. Required Qualifications, Skills & Experience: • PhD/Doctorate holder in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Network Engineering, or a closely related field. • High-potential research track record matching the activities and competencies defined for Maître de Conférences at IMT Atlantique. • Strong teaching capabilities and dedication to innovative, problem-based pedagogical methods. • Required application documents include: completed application dossier, CV, cover letter, copies of degrees/certificates, passport/national ID copy, integration proposal across the three pillars (Teaching / Research / Economic Valorization), PhD thesis report, and reports from the two thesis reviewers.
